✰Introduction To Peep's Life✰

Gustav Elijah Åhr, or as we know him by (Lil Peep) was an American rapper who used unusual and different beats to his music. Gus' music was labelled as emo-type style of rap.

Gus was born in Pennsylvania on November 1st 1996, but he was raised in Long Island, New York. He described Long Island as "the sh*ttiest f*cking suburbs ever". Both of his parents were Harvard graduates and they divorced when Gus was just a teenager. Liza Womack (Gus' mother) is a first-grade teacher whilst his father is a college professor. Peep had Swedish, German and Irish ancestry. Gus also has an older brother who originally got him interested into the Gothic music scene.

Where Did The Name Lil Peep Come From?   

There really isn't much background to why Gus named his stage name as 'Lil Peep' other than this. "My mum has been calling me Peep my whole life, that's how I got the name. I don't know why, she tells me I look like a "little Peep" but I don't know really know what a 'Peep' is. She's a first-grade teacher and she was doing all this home school type sh*t. She had me raising little birds when I was a kid, so I was raised with ducks and chickens. I'd keep them in my bedroom. That's my whole childhood". 

First Teenage Job

Gus' first job as a teenager was working in a kitchen at a sea food restaurant. "One time a chef came out with a bucket of crabs, like 300 crabs, live crabs, apparently to kill a crab and cook them, you need to just take a pair of scissors, big ass cooking scissors and just straight cut their faces off. So I'm a mass crab murderer, i cut the faces off 300 crabs that day and i never went back"

Gus attended Long Beach High School in Lido Beach, New York, and although he was raised with parents who's careers were built around education, school wasn't something Gus went to bed and looked forward too the next day. In fact, he rarely attended school, he described the people at school as "they were like the stereotypical highschoolers from the movies. It's hard to find people you f*ck with" Despite this, he still got good grades and he even made it onto the deans list for the time he attended. He later dropped out of school and took online courses to earn his diploma. It wasn't long after this that he started to post his music on YouTube and SoundCloud. At age 17, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music, under the name of Lil Peep. 

First Mixtape

In 2015,  Peep released his very first mixtape, called Lil Peep Part One. The mixtape itself generated 4,000+ plays in it's first week, shortly after, he released two more projects, Feelz and Live Forever. It wasn't until 2016 when Peep released two full-length mixtapes; Crybaby and Hellboy.

GBC 

Gus became part of the Goth Boi Clique collective on the 25th September 2016. Goth Boi Clique (or GBC for short) focused on melodic trap with emotional lyrics. Highly influenced by rock subgenres like pop-punk and grunge. This allowed Peep to find his own place within the scene. 

The Future Of Emo

January 9th 2017, Pitchfork dubs Lil Peep as "The Future Of Emo". This gained Peep a lot of media attention and publicity.

Castles II

Following the sequel to the 2016 EP 'Castles', Peep and Lil Tracy come through again with Castles II, which dropped on 7th February 2017. The EP's biggest track was 'Witchblades' which has a emo/trap beat to it, with catchy verses such as Peep's "When i die bury me with all my ice on, when i die bury me without the lights on". 'Witchblades' currently has over 25million views on YouTube. Other popular songs from the EP are 'Your Favorite Dress' and 'Past The Castle Walls' 

Peep's Tattoos

Peep has various tattoos in different places, from his face down to his legs, Peep is inked. His very first tattoo he got is located on the inside of his right arm. "It's my mums birthday and her initials, so that she wouldn't get mad at me cause it was my first tattoo and i was 14". Peep also has a tattoo of his son on his right leg. "I got my son, right here on my leg, but my son is a doll that i bought at a store and his name is Meep. I bought Meep a year ago now with my ex girlfriend and hes our son, so i decided i had to get him tattooed on me". You will notice Peep has a variety of face,neck and head tattoos. He has the cartoon character Lisa from the show Simpsons tattooed on his neck. He describes the tattoo as. "Oh so this is my relationship with my mum, I'm Lisa, just screaming mum, you know cause whenever somethings going wrong in my life or I'm freaking out i call my mum on the phone, i stress her the f*ck out". 2015, Gus got a broken heart tattooed under his left eye. In his words, "it was kinda like a push for myself to like be successful with the music I was doing cause it can make it harder to get a job when your face is covered in tattoos". Above his right eye, Peep has 'Crybaby' tattooed. Peep said, "I found myself complaining a lot and being very ungrateful for the things I have in life, so I got the crybaby tattoo on my face to remind me that theirs a lot of people on Earth who would love to be in the position I'm in".



  

Hollywood Dreaming Or Hollywood Headache?  

In May of 2017, Peep was accused by a band named Mineral of copyright infringement for including an unlicensed and uncredited sample of their song 'Love Letter Typewriter' in Peep's song 'Hollywood Dreaming'. Gus later said that he was only trying to "show some love" with the sample. 

Gus Comes Out As Bisexual

Gus took to twitter on August 8th 2017 to announce that he is bisexual. Shortly after he tweeted that he is bisexual, he took to twitter again and tweeted to his fans "who wants a kiss".

Come Over When You're Sober

On the 2nd of June 2017, Gus announced a new project, and his debut album, 'Come Over When You're Sober' via a Instagram post. Gus had scheduled the album to be released on the 11th August, but after a slight delay, his debut album finally dropped on the 15th August 2017. The album was a massive success and star tracks including 'Benz Truck' and 'Awful Things', which features Lil Tracy have gone on too smash views on YouTube (currently has 68milion views on YouTube and over 28million plays on Spotify).  

Lil Peep & Bella Thorne

Not long after the release of his debut album, Peep was spotted kissing singer, actress and former Disney Channel star Bella Thorne. They had a brief relationship during September 2017, before Thorne started seeing fellow rapper Mod Sun.

November 15th 2017

Lil Peep. Gustav Elijah Åhr. Sadly passed away on November 15th 2017. It was suspected that the cause of death was a drug overdose but that couldn't be confirmed until full toxicology results were received. Gus was just 21 years old. 

Results from the toxicology showed that Gus had died from a fentanyl and Xanax overdose. Peep regularly took Xanax, but the Xanax he took on the 15th were laced with the highly deadly drug called fentanyl. The medical examiner's office told Pitchfork that the "manner of death" was "accidental". 

Other famous artists took to twitter and other social media websites to show their condolences, including his ex partner, Bella Thorne. Lil Uzi Vert has also expressed his desire to go sober since Peep has passed. 

✰Spotlight✰ 

Before Peep's unfortunate passing, he was working on several different projects. Including the second part to his debut album and new music with iLoveMakonnen. Liza Womack has since desired to preserve her son's legacy through his music, and a brand new collaboration with EDM producer Marshmello, 'Spotlight' has assured that.
